2010 Triathlon 101 Training
Improve your swim, bike & running skills with the experts at Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care - Wyoming, Minn., and Midwest Sports Events

Join us on Monday, March 1, from 6-9 p.m. for Triathlon 101, an evening of information from the experts to help novice triathletes prepare for triathlon participation. The course is offered at no cost and will be held at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, Conference Room B, 5200 Fairview Blvd., Wyoming, MN 55092.

The Triathlon 101 class fills up fast! Pre-registration is required.

Triathlon 101 Training includes:

• creating a training schedule
• transitions between events
• swimming technique
• nutrition
• bike fit and cycling tips
• running form
• treating and preventing injuries
• pulling these elements together to confidently complete your first multisport event.

Fairview is the medical sponsor for the Chisago Lakes Triathlon which will return to Paradise Park in Chisago City on Sunday, July 25. The triathlon is hosted by Chisago Lakes Chamber of Commerce and coordinated by Midwest Sports Events.

Midwest Sports Events offers a $15 discount for the Half Ironman and $7 discount for the Sprint to Triathlon 101 participants when they register for the Chisago Lakes Triathlon.

Back Again by Popular Demand - Kids Tri Training Night
Kids can be triathletes too!  On Monday, March 29, at 7 p.m., Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care and Midwest Sports Events will offer prizes, refreshments and pointers to help kids age 12 and under get ready for the Chisago Lakes Kids Triathlon. The Kids Triathlon will be held on Saturday, July 24, in Chisago City Paradise Park. No children under age 3, please.

Those who attend get $5 off their Kids' Triathlon registration fee. A parent or guardian must accompany every three children. To pre-register for this free class call 612-672-7272.

Low-cost bike helmets, provided by Fairview Lakes Community Health Outreach, will be offered at 6:30 p.m. immediately prior to the March 29th 7 p.m. class.

• Pre-participation sports physicals: We provide pre-participation sports physicals before school starts in the fall for Twin Cities high school athletes with the entire cost of the physical returned to the athletes' schools. Our doctors are also available for special concerns and further evaluation throughout the year.
• Educational workshops: Our sports medicine team offers educational workshops on such topics as handling emergencies, injury evaluation and treatment, first aid, fitness, and taping techniques. Workshops are presented in lecture and hands-on training formats.
