Clinical Laboratory Technician Sponsorship Program
Fairview's Clinical Laboratory Technician Sponsorship program is intended to fill critical vacancies within the Fairview laboratories. If we don't anticipate employment opportunities to be available at the completion of the program, we can't offer the sponsorship.
Eligibility
This sponsorship is offered by invitation to students who are enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technician, Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) program at St. Paul College and currently performing clinicals at a Fairview facility. Only students who are selected and recommended by Fairview laboratory personnel may apply for this sponsorship.
In addition, eligible candidates must be:
- Willing to accept a full-time Clinical Laboratory Technician position at Fairview within one month of graduation. Positions may be at any Fairview hospital that is experiencing a critical vacancy at that time.
- Willing to commit to working as a Clinical Laboratory Technician at Fairview for a minimum of one year.
Sponsorship recipients are chosen based on an application and interview process.
Sponsorship amount
The sponsorship is $3,000 and is paid to St. Paul College toward cost of tuition.
Note: The sponsorship is considered a “loan” by the IRS and accrues simple interest at 6 percent. The loan and interest are considered “forgiven” after the work commitment is completed, and do not need to be paid back. However, at that point, according to IRS guidelines, both the loan and interest become taxable income and are taxed at the supplemental rate of 38.9 percent.
