Our Commitment
Community focus

As a not-for-profit health care organization, improving your health and quality of life is central to our commitment to the community. We work with communities to identify health needs and implement programs designed to meet those needs, like:

  • providing community care to the uninsured and underinsured,
  • awarding scholarships to students pursuing health care careers, and
  • implementing patient safety standards through Safest In America.

In fact, Fairview, in working with other health care organizations, leads the nation in efforts to set patient safety standards.

Our Lutheran roots lend themselves naturally to create partnerships with faith-based organizations. Together we have established innovative outreach programs such as a ministerial health program that provides counseling services to pastors in our community.

In addition to our larger community outreach programs, each of the local communities in the areas around our seven hospitals has identified and designed programs that address specific community health issues. Examples include the Red Wing area’s award-winning Yellow Ribbon program for suicide prevention, the youth grief camp established in the Minnesota Valley area, which is home to Fairview Ridges Hospital, the Family Opportunities and Literacy Collaborative (FOLC) in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the traffic safety partnerships in Minnesota’s Iron Range.
