MINNEAPOLIS (January 15, 2008) – Columbia Park Medical Group (CPMG) and Fairview Health Services finalized an agreement that merges all six CPMG clinics into the Fairview system.

“This enhances health care in the northern suburbs and we’re excited about what this means for our patients,” said Deborah DeMarais, M.D., president of CPMG. “It allows us to continue to invest in leading-edge technology and to improve services for our patients.”

The two organizations first disclosed the plan in September 2007. CPMG operates six multi-specialty clinics in Andover, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Columbia Heights and Fridley, with 87 physicians and 520 employees. CPMG’s 220,000 patients will continue to have access to their regular providers and clinics. Although they may continue to receive care at Unity Hospital in Fridley, they will also have access to any Fairview facility. CPMG will continue to accept nearly all current insurance plans.

CPMG providers join Fairview’s network of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and specialty care services, including specialists at University of Minnesota Physicians. The partnership also expands Fairview’s service area in the northern suburbs and facilitates the integration and coordination of care in a growing community.

The agreement will bring new technologies and conveniences to CPMG patients. Within 12-24 months, patients will have access to their own electronic health record, same-day appointments and online appointment scheduling. They’ll be able to view test results online, request prescription refills, email questions and even conduct E-visits with a provider.

“Columbia Park Medical Group and Fairview share similar missions of improving the health of our communities with the best possible care and the best possible patient experience,” said Dan Anderson, vice president, Fairview Health Services.

As part of the agreement, Fairview Pharmacy Services assumed ownership and operation of the Allina Community Pharmacies at the CPMG clinics in Andover and Columbia Heights.
