MINNEAPOLIS (May 22, 2007) – Fairview today announced the appointment of Mark A. Eustis as president and CEO of Fairview Health Services. The selection was approved at a special board meeting Monday evening, May 21. Eustis begins in his new role on August 1, 2007.
Eustis joins Fairview from Ascension Health in St. Louis, MO, where he was president of Regional Ministry Operations. “I am pleased to be returning to Minnesota to join one of the most successful academic and community healthcare partnerships in the nation. It is an honor to be part of Fairview and the partnership with the University and University of Minnesota Physicians,” said Eustis. “I’m coming home, not just to Minnesota, but to the University as well.”
“We are pleased to find a new president and CEO who is strongly committed to delivering exceptional care to our patients. Mark’s experience integrating academic medicine into community hospitals makes him a perfect choice to continue strengthening Fairview’s 10-year pioneering partnership with the University of Minnesota,” said Jon Campbell, Fairview’s board chair. "Mark shares Fairview's values and will continue to build our culture of patient safety and transparency."
Eustis brings expertise in leadership at the nation’s largest nonprofit health system, serving patients through a network of care settings providing acute care services, long-term care, community health services, psychiatric, rehabilitation and residential care. In addition, his background includes executive management positions at BJC Healthcare in St. Louis, MO, and Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, MI. At BJC, Eustis built strong relationships between community and academic faculty and physicians.
A native of Minnesota, he attended the University of Minnesota, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in hospital and healthcare administration.
Eustis replaces David R. Page, president and CEO of Fairview since 1997. Page announced his retirement two years ago and will officially retire in October.
