Fairview's Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program—the second largest in the upper Midwest—has more than 50 years of experience preparing people from many faith traditions for spiritual care ministries.
We were accredited in 1960 by the Accreditation Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc., and we've retained that accreditation throughout our history.
What we offer
We foster an experienced-based theological education that combines the practice of spiritual care with qualified supervision and peer group reflection. We help students develop competency in the art and skills of pastoral care. We encourage them to explore their spiritual histories and deepen their pastoral identity.
Our experienced CPE faculty members prepare students to work in clinical and community settings addressing the spiritual needs of parishioners, patients, their families, health care staff and community members. Students engage in ministry alongside their CPE supervisor and Fairview chaplains in individual or group consultations.
We offer a choice of training levels and scheduling options and have programs at a number of locations. Find out more about the application process and tuition.
Our students come from many different faith traditions and many countries. You can get a sense of what some of them have experienced in our program by reading our student reflections.
