Strategic community partnerships

Fairview has partnered with the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes. Both organizations are committed to life-saving research and education to advance care in key clinical areas—healthy hearts and healthy babies, respectively.

In 2011, Fairview partnered with both organizations through major participation in key community events.

March for Babies--Sunday, May 1
The March of Dimes sponsors the annual March for Babies which raises money for research and programs to support healthy babies. The 2011 March for Babies was Sunday, May 1 at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis (with walks April 30 in Princeton and Virginia, Minn. and May 1 in Red Wing). Fairview, a major participating organization, raised more than $116,000 at these important community events.

Over the last five years, the March of Dimes has sponsored more than $2.6 million in research at the University of Minnesota.

Start! Heart Walk--Saturday, June 4
The 2011 Twin Cities Start! Heart Walk—sponsored by the American Heart Association to raise funds for cardiovascular research—was held Saturday, June 4 at Target Field, the home of the Minnesota Twins. Fairview raised more than $135,000 and had 1,000 walkers at this important community event.

Over the last five years, the University of Minnesota has received more than $6 million in combined active research grants from the American Heart Association.
